Medieval fashion will be shown near Kiev

The Principality of Kyivan Rus invites you in a place where our statehood was born and to spend the holidays and weekends in fresh air with thrilling medieval amusements, horse-trick shows, horse riding and tasty dishes prepared on a bonfire.

On July, 03 and 04 Show program "Kaleidoscope of historical costumes" will take place in Ancient Kyiv. During these days the guests will be able to see a wide variety of costumes – from an ordinary citizen to the great prince and princess. Combat ammunition will also be demonstrated, the armor and weapon of different epochs and nations: from Scythians to Cumans, Hungarians, from the legendary Amazons to the knights of the Medieval Europe.

Different aspects of the medieval costume – its beauty, practicality, distinctive features of clothes of different Rus citizens will be exposed in an interesting theatrical form. Since the ancient times it`s been considered to judge people by their look. In Middle Ages everybody had to dress only in accordance with his position in society. The violation of these rules was strictly punished. You can learn about these rules and punishments while visiting Kyiv during these days.

The most interesting part of the program will be that the guests will be able to see military fashion not on a stage but in action. And apart from historical costumes traditional horse equipment will be shown to the audience. During these days there will be the demonstrative performances of the actors-stuntmen of the Ancient Kyiv`s horse-trick theatre on virtuoso possession of various types of medieval weapons on horseback: swords, spears, sulitsas. In addition, the horsemen and their faithful horses will demonstrate the elements of horse-trick riding: various tricks, that are now used in demonstrative performances and in the past helped during the fights and saved lives in battles.

Also the viewers will see the performances of horseback archers: on a horseback at full gallop the sportsmen will compete in accuracy in the real medieval archery. It is an extremely difficult task for the participants of the competition but at the same time an exciting and thrilling sight for the visitors.

In the Principality it is possible to not only watch the tournament of horseback archers but to learn this ancient martial art yourself by enrolling in a school of horseback archers. The real stars of the holiday program will be the horses of rare historical breeds gathered from all over the world in the Princely stable. The representatives of some breeds can be found nowhere else in Ukraine because they were brought to our country in an only number. You can approach to the horses, palm them, make a photo and ride on a horseback or in a carriage.

A feeling of adrenaline for the guests will be provided by the fascinating zipline Politailo (where everyone can not only descend from the height, but also fly over the lake), as well as the high-speed slide “Zmey Gorynych”, after which you can take a picture with a fire-breathing dragon.

And of course, you can taste delicious dishes from princes cooks in the Princely Tavern and in food points in the open air and in arbors.

Also you can stay for the night in the hotel-type house «4 rooms», which is situated in a five-minutes walk from the Detinetz of Kyiv or in the hostel or at a camping within the park.
