A grandiose celebration will take place on Independence Day in Ancient Kyiv

On August, 21-24 Ancient Kyiv in the Principality of Kyivan Rus invites everybody to visit the grandiose celebration of Independence Day of Ukraine with a bright show-program, tasty dishes and exciting master-classes. It is very symbolic to celebrate this holiday in the Park, plunging into the times of the birth of statehood on our lands, the times of greatness and prosperity.

In the Principality of Kyivan Rus on the basis of the knowledge of modern science Ancient Kyiv of the V-XIІІ centuries is being recreated in its natural size. Apart from the masterpieces of medieval architecture the atmosphere of the great Kyivan Rus epoch is being recreated as well. In Ancient Kyiv you can see such masterpieces of medieval architecture as: the monumental wooden defensive complex, the Michael’s Gate (21 meters high), the reconstructed first Christian temple, built by Volodymyr the Great after the baptism of Rus – the wooden Basyl`s church of the Х century, and also the estates of Kyiv residents, the princely tribunes and the medieval stable, the Terem of Yaroslav the Wise and the Yaroslav`s Gate, recreated according to archaeological excavations. The expositions and museums will also be working for the guests.

August, 21-24 the guests will be awaited by not only by the life of the medieval city but also by a lot of amusements and a rich entertaining program. The action will begin about 14:00 with the solemn entry of medieval characters, the horse lava and the entry of the Kyivan prince Volodymyr the Great himself. The guests will be invited to join the procession to the Basyl`s church. On the Dytynetz of Kyiv the events related to the choice of religion by Volodymyr the Great will be recreated and the overthrow of idols will take place.

The visitors will see the show with the participation of historical characters of Kyivan Rus, the performances of the pedestrian and horse-trick theatres, ancient Slavic games and amusements, contests, dance flash mobs and fiery round dances. A theatrical Bylina about the Kyiv veche with a dangerous performance «the breaking by horses» will take place on the main tilting-yard. The horse show of the princely flags and the «Eastern market» performance will amaze the viewers. The «Princely hunt» will be interesting, during which the horse stuntmen will demonstrate horseback archery, the possession of a saber and spear on horseback.

Apart from this, on the «nut field» of the amphitheatre of Ancient Kyiv the wonderful horses of different historical breeds, living in the Princely stable, will be demonstrated. These beautiful animals can be palmed, taken a photo with and even ridden on horseback. During three days it will be possible to learn how to make pottery with your own hands, mint coins and shoot straight from a bow. A rope cube-labyrinth «Mousetrap» will be working for children. The following locations will also be working: «sport-sword» - fights in soft equipment, «bow fights» - shooting a bow in a fenced area at the opponent with safe soft arrows. It will be possible to find out your fate visiting the Fortune-teller.

A feeling of adrenaline for the guests will be provided by the fascinating zipline Politailo (where everyone can not only descend from the height, but also fly over the lake), as well as the high-speed slide “Zmey Gorynych”, after which you can take a picture with a fire-breathing dragon.

And of course, you can taste delicious dishes from princes cooks in the Princely Tavern and in food points in the open air and in arbors.

Also you can stay for the night in the house «4 rooms», which is situated in a five-minutes walk from the Detinetz of Kyiv or in the hostel or at a camping within the park.

The entrance ticket price includes only a visit to Ancient Kiev - an architectural complex of the reproduction of a medieval city. If there is a program on the day of visiting the complex, it is not additionally paid.
