Dear friends, for me, as I am sure for many of you, there is something mysterious and innermost in this short word – Kiev. Kiev is the history itself. Here, on the hillsides of Dnieper blessed by Andrew the Apostle was built the first Kiev Acropolis, its Detinets. (Detinets is one of names for an inner town stronghold). Just right here was founded the world capital that could compete with Athens and Rome, they called it “the Mother of Rus’ Cities”. Right here was formed the core of Eastern-Slavic civilization, its culture and nationhood. Ancient Kiev became the center of gravity in the process of creation of states of Eastern Europe. In ІХ-Х centuries the Kievan Detinets occupied the area of ten hectares of ground, its population was approximately two thousands of people. Despite of this, it effectively managed so great state as the Kievan Rus' spread from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, from the Carpathians to the Volga. Creation of this “state galaxy” became possible by the virtue of special force of gravity of spiritual and material components of Ancient Kiev. Lately, this Rus’ galaxy gave birth to such countries as Ukraine, Russia, Belorussia. So, if we want to strengthen and develop our country – Ukraine, it is necessary to save and protect this gravity of the Kievan Detinets, whatever it sounds like.
